Our Andy

I got a few good pictures of Andy today on my phone.  Andy has been having a bit of colic, which is lots of fun.  So he often looks a bit like this, but he often is just crying when he's awake so that's not quite as cute.

We're hoping that he feels better soon so he can spend more time looking like this.  Grace and Joy have asked for ear plugs or ear muffs to block the crying and Joy asked me the other day if all babies cried this much.  I think he's going to be better really soon though (we're trying every remedy known to man).  I  have big plans for Aunt Chrissy when she gets home from California and it involves me getting a nap sometime, or Mark and I getting a date :)  (Chrissy is amazing with babies, so I think she could handle Mr. Andy and his fussiness).  Have a great week!

Blessing Day!

Today was Andy's blessing day.  He looked so sweet in this sweater outfit and beautiful blanket that Mom gave me.  Mark gave Andy a lovely blessing.  I'm so grateful to have this sweet baby in our family.

Happy, sweet Andy!
Today it felt like a blessing day for all of us because we have lots of blessings.  I know that Heavenly Father has been watching out for us and that we have been protected.  I know that the God of Heaven hears our prayers and keeps His promises and that there are good things to come.

Grace's Birthday!

We had Grace's 7th birthday party with the Llewellyn and Bousquet cousins at Grandma and Grandpa's house!  We love the summer when Suzie comes to visit!  Part of the party was a rubber ducky race in Grandma's canal, so much fun!

Pretty Birthday Girl!
We're so grateful to have Grace in our family.  She loves people and parties and she's quite a sensitive soul.  She's just like her mom.

Joyful!

Auntie Lisa painted the girls toenails one day and Joy thought that was great, so soon thereafter she painted her own fingernails with her watercolors.  I thought she did a great job.  She's so creative.

I love this picture of Andy when he was a week old.  So cute and chubby.

Andy's story continued

These pictures are of Andy when he was five days old.  When he was ten days old we took him back to the hospital at the recommendation of the on-call nurse, because he was breathing too quickly for long periods of time.  After another 24 hours in the NICU, and lots of not-fun tests, the doctors decided that Andy's lungs were still maturing and that he was okay even though he breathes too fast.  He still breathes too fast sometimes, but the doctors say it's okay because it's getting better over time.

So sweet!

Then a few days after that NICU visit we had the most terrifying day of our lives.  In the afternoon after driving to Mom's house, I went to get Andy out of his carseat and noticed that he was kind of blue.  We got him breathing and pink again pretty fast, but we were quite scared so we took him straight to the doctor.  The doctor thought maybe it was just how Andy had been sitting in his car seat, so he sent us home.  Then late that evening, while he was in my arms, Andy stopped breathing again.  We called 911 and then after a few terrifying minutes of stimulation he started breathing again.  Then Andy and I got to ride in an ambulance downtown to the hospital.  Luckily the blood pressure medication was working or I probably would have needed to be in the hospital too after all that excitement (as it was I felt pretty weak).  Andy stopped breathing again the first night in the hospital so the nurses were able to see an episode.  The episodes were pretty extreme, but he didn't need CPR, so that's good.  So we had more tests and a few more days in the hospital.  The diagnosis came back as acid reflux and he hasn't had another episode since starting his medication.  We are grateful to still have Andy with us and we think he should do well now.

Andrew Mark Rogers

I've got some blog posts to catch up on.  We've been busy because of our newest addition.  Andrew Mark Rogers was born July 3, 2013.  He was 2 1/2 weeks early.  He didn't breathe for the first couple minutes, so he gave us a bit of a scare, but he was doing really well after a few minutes.  The doctors think that the fluid didn't leave his lungs properly when he was born.  He stayed in the NICU for the first 36 hours for observation and because he needed a little oxygen.

He's so cute, I think he looks a lot like BethAnne looked.

Love all the hair, so cute!

I like this picture because it shows how I felt, pretty exhausted.  C-sections are pretty tough, but I'm so grateful that I healed well and that my pre-eclampsia didn't get too bad.  I thought I would escape full blown pre-eclampsia all together, but a few days after giving birth, my blood pressure shot up quite high.  After a few different blood pressure medicines (the first two having the scary side effect of making it hard for me to breathe and feel my extremities) I was put on a good medicine that brought my blood pressure down.  So we went home just a couple days after Andy was born, but our adventures were just beginning, stay tuned... :)
