We went to the final walkthrough of our new house on December 28th, right before we went to sign the closing documents, and we were dismayed to see what they had put up for our garage doors. They had to put up a temporary, non-functioning doors on the RV garage because the other doors were on back order. Luckily the main door was functioning.
Not the prettiest house on the block 😆
Then the next day, December 29th, we got our keys in the middle of a blizzard. Mark immediately got to work getting the house ready. We ended up changing out most of the light fixtures in the house (because we hadn't been given many options by the builder). Mark also had to put in the dog door, make a temporary dog yard, get shelves set up in the garage, and do a million other things. He worked so hard that weekend and the week after. I did most of the unpacking, and that was a big job, but we got it done eventually (technically we're still kind of working on unpacking fully, but I'm not sure it will ever be 100% done).
Here are some pictures of our new house-
This is one of our favorite rooms, our bathroom. Mark put up this lovely privacy film on the window that looks like stained glass, it's beautiful.

This 1/2 bathroom originally had just a pedestal sink. Mark put in this lovely vanity. It was a big job and it turned out great!
A couple weeks ago, it got warm enough for the painters to come back and paint the garage doors and the front door.
The RV garage was replaced with the proper door a few weeks ago. It doesn't work yet (still missing parts) but it looks great!
I love my new front door. At first they painted it black (the usual color), but we had upgraded to this blackberry color. After several calls and a few minutes of panic, we were able to get the painter scheduled to come back and fix it. I love it!
And thus ends the saga/adventure that was building our house. We signed in August 2020 and closed a couple days before 2022. It's a great house for us and we're very grateful.
Such a beautiful house! Can't wait to see it this summer!
ReplyDeleteGotta say, I’m super jealous of your RV garage! Big vans are hard to park in normal garages. 😂
ReplyDeleteLooks gorgeous! I can’t wait to see it in real life.
